West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has insisted he will not quit after their 6-0 hammering at the hands of Manchester City in the Capital One Cup semi-final first-leg yesterday.
The Hammers are second bottom of the Premiership
having also being hammered 5-0 in the FA Cup by Championship side Nottingham Forest recently, but despite growing supporter unrest, Allardyce made it clear he would not walk away from Upton Park.
“You have to accept that when it is not so good, you have to draw on your strengths and experience to guide the players through this difficult time we are facing.
“At the end of the day, we cannot keep walking around with our heads down in doom and gloom,” the former Blackburn boss continued.
“We have to get our heads up and our shoulders back and our chest out and start believing that we are going to do better.”
Allardyce added that the extensive injury list at the club that has seen his three first choice centre-backs - James Tomkins, James Collins and Winston Reid - all face spells on the side-lines, while club record signing Andy Carroll has yet to play this season.
