Chemmy Alcott included in Great Britain team

Skier Chemmy Alcott has been included in the Great Britain team for the Winter Olympics in Sochi after convincing the selectors of her fitness.

The 31-year-old Londoner only returned to full-time training in December after breaking her leg for a
third time in August 2012.

She was unable to race ahead of the selection deadline when a World Cup event in Italy was cancelled at the weekend, but she will take part in her fourth Winter Oympics after being named in a 19-strong Great Britain ski and snowboard team for the Games.

Alcott made her Olympic debut in Salt Lake City in 2002 where she came 14th in the super combined, and went on to score 11th-place finishes in both 2006 and 2010.
British slalom expert Dave Ryding has also been included in the team after impressing on the Europa Cup circuit this season.

The Lancastrian said: "It's a great feeling to be selected to represent Team GB in Sochi, after four years of hard work since the last Olympics I look forward to putting my best skiing out there on the day of the race."
World Cup medallists James Woods, Katie Summerhayes and Rowan Cheshire lead a six-strong freestyle skiing team which also includes Murray Buchan, James Machon and Emma Lonsdale.
Snowboarders Billy Morgan, Jenny Jones and Zoe Gillings have also enjoyed success on the World Cup circuit and they will be joined by Jamie Nicholls, Aimee Fuller, Ben Kilner and Dom Harrington.
